  • Field Inspector & Code Compliance Officer

    As a full-time or intern Field Inspector & Code Compliance Officer, you will ensure properties comply with the Zoning Resolution in order that Liberty Township may maintain its' rural feel and character, with a focus on being a family-oriented community with big city amenities and great a business culture. As a Code Compliance Officer, no two days are the same! Typically, you will drive around the Township to inspect new homes, building additions – like fences, pools and patios, and new developments; you will follow up on zoning code violations and educate our residents and business owners on the zoning code and its’ importance to the community. To thrive in this role, you must have a high attention to detail, a great driving record, enjoy working outside and getting your feet a bit dirty, communicate in a professional and friendly manner and be able to understand and interpret regulations to identify violations - such as signage, trash and weeds. We are looking for candidates who are able to set and maintain efficient schedules and who are able to balance field work with office work. Liberty Township Zoning Department is a team environment and everyone is expected to help with all facets of the Department, including answering phones and speaking with visitors to the office. The full-time position may be a flex schedule, working between 32 and 40 hours per week, depending on workload. The internship has flexible schedule and will be paid hourly. Minimum requirements include a valid state of Ohio Drivers’ License and some experience or education in planning, development or code compliance. Knowledge of zoning ordinances is preferred.   Attention to detail is a must in this position.

  • Township Administrator

    Liberty Township in Powell, Ohio is seeking a new Township Administrator to oversee and direct the general operations of our Township. As Administrator, you will provide leadership and vision to our Department Heads and administrative staff in establishing and reaching goals and implementing policies and directives of the Board of Trustees. The Administrator must be able to motivate and guide all staff to ensure the Township continues to provide excellent service to our residents, visitors and businesses. You will work closely with our Parks & Road Services Superintendent, who oversees the maintenance and improvement of over 400 acres of active and passive greenspace, athletic fields, wooded walking trails and over 100 miles of well-maintained and safe roadways. As Administrator, you will be involved on a daily basis with our Zoning Department. The Administrator must achieve a thorough understanding of the Township Comprehensive Plan and enjoy planning & zoning concepts to ensure the integrity, character and feel of our community is maintained. The Administrator must have a high-level of knowledge and experience in budget management to manage the Township’s budget as prepared by the Fiscal Officer the Board.

    Liberty Township/Powell is home to over 30,000 residents, many retail businesses, offices and schools. The Board of Trustees relies on the Administrator to inform and advise on matters affecting the Township. Therefore, the ideal candidate has a knowledge of local government operation, exceptional project management skill and the ability to communicate clearly and directly, both verbally and through the use of reports, Powerpoint presentations, spreadsheets, etc.

    A successful Administrator is available to work mostly during the normal work week, but is also willing and able to be flexible to attend evening meetings. This individual must be able to deal firmly, tactfully, and courteously with all other Township offices, departments, and the public. 

    Compensation for the Township Administrator is set at $95,000.00-$130,000.00 per year and includes a very competitive benefits package, leave accruals and professional development

  • Parks Maintenance Worker (full-time, includes mandatory weekend and evening (until dusk) hours) - As a full-time Parks Maintenance Worker, you help the Township provide a beautiful, safe and clean park system to our residents and visitors. You will use zero-turn mowers, push mowers, chainsaws and many other common powered and hand outdoor tools and equipment. Our Parks Staff take down trees to keep our paths and park areas safe, maintain flower beds and do maintenance and upkeep on our park equipment, which includes athletic equipment, tennis and volley ball courts, park shelter, benches and restrooms. If you enjoy being outside - this is the job for you because most of your day is spent in our 400+ acres of parks, including athletic fields, active and passive greenspace and wooded walking trails. To succeed in this position, you must be able to operate large trucks and equipment, use chain saws to cut down and trim trees, be skilled on riding mowers and in using all sorts of lawn and yard equipment and enjoy a fun, outdoor environment.   • Road Maintenance Worker (full-time) - As a full-time Road Maintenance Worker, you are part of the team that keeps our roadways safe and well maintained. You will operate large trucks and equipment to mow right-of-ways, fix roadway issues - such as potholes and downed trees and signs, cut down and trim trees and keep our roadways clear of ice and snow. To succeed in this position, you must have a CDL, enjoy working outdoors, driving big trucks and mowers and being physically active.   • Part-time Firefighter/Paramedic - Liberty Township Fire Department is seeking part-time Firefighter/Paramedic positions. These positions are responsible for the performance of specialized duties primarily in emergency response and mitigation efforts to save lives and protect property.  Duties will include, but are not limited to, firefighting and rescue, paramedic work, operating engine, ladder truck, ambulance and other vehicles and equipment/property maintenance on an assigned shift. Applications must include a valid State of Ohio Paramedic and Firefighter II certification card. Shifts are 24 hours and this position pays $16.00 per hour. As part of the hiring process, selected applicants will be interviewed and will be required to pass a physical agility test and a background check.
