- Zoning Officer
Would you like a job where you aren’t stuck behind a desk and where you can get outside and see what’s going on in the community? If you would enjoy talking with residents and business owners and helping the community maintain it's character and feel, then being a Zoning Officer for Liberty Township may be right for you!
As a Zoning Officer, you review permits and building plans, conduct property inspections and ensure compliance with the Zoning Code. Liberty Township is one of the fastest growing and highest income communities in Ohio. We are family-oriented with a great restaurant, retail and business culture. This means there is a lot of development and many new homes and businesses being built, all of which you will see while approving permits, doing field inspections, meeting with owners and ensuring compliance with the zoning code. On a typical day, you may drive around the Township to inspect new home sites and building additions, investigate violations or meet with homeowners, developers or builders to review plans and help them reach their building goals.
To succeed in this role, you must have a high attention to detail, be able to communicate in a professional and friendly manner and be able to interpret rules and regulations to identify items that don’t comply with the code. You will do inspections outside, so it is important that you enjoy being outside and aren’t worried about getting your feet a bit dirty. The ideal candidate is able to set and maintain efficient schedules, balance field work with office work and enjoy a team environment. The full-time position works between 32 and 40 hours per week, depending on workload and staff schedules, with a few evening meetings each month. A valid state of Ohio Drivers’ License is required. Experience or education in planning, development or code compliance and an understanding of zoning is preferred, but it is most important that you have experience interpreting and applying rules. Salary starts at $48,000 with a very competitive benefits package including excellent health insurance and paid time off.
