Emergency Medical Services

Poison Control Center:

(800) 222-1222

Liberty Township Fire Department provides Emergency Medical services to the communities of Liberty Township, City of Powell, and Mutual Aid departments that surround its borders. There are two stations. Station 321 (main Station) is centrally located in the heart of Liberty Township. Station 322 is located in the Southern Portion of the Township. It has been built to reduce response times to this area of increased growth.

All full time line personnel are dual certified as firefighters and paramedics. This requirement allows having paramedics on every piece of equipment that responds out the door. There are two medic units that respond and transport patients to area hospitals. However, in the event they are busy, there is an engine company and ladder company that are Advanced Life Support equipped. These vehicles are staffed 24/7.

Liberty Township takes numerous calls for EMS assistance. When you call 911 you will talk to our central dispatch center. They are

trained in Emergency Medical Dispatching and will assist you until we arrive. Once we arrive, our paramedics have the authorization by our Medical Director to treat life-threatening emergencies with state of the art equipment and practices. New research has developed specialized care for heart attacks, strokes, and all cases of trauma. When the medics arrive, using their expertise, they will assist the patient and or family in going to the most appropriate facility for their emergency. Many advancements have been developed since the birth of pre-hospital care. Liberty Township vows to keep abreast of these advancements and will incorporate these ideas and practices where we can.

Every month there are guest lecturers brought into train the paramedics with new techniques and ideas. The state mandates 92 continuing education hours every three years. Here at Liberty, medics are given education well above that standard.

The paramedics are dedicated to the communities they serve. When you call 911 you can rest assured that Liberty Township medics will respond professionally, and know effective ways to handle any medical or traumatic emergency. We are here for you and your loved ones 365 days a year!

Liberty Township Adopts the

"Special Needs Program"

Liberty Township is adopting a program that will allow the paramedics to be aware of special medical needs in the community they serve. Every year people are born, or diagnosed, with ailments that can be debilitating and create needs that routine medical care would not cover. We are asking for your assistance. If someone in your family has a medical condition that is a persistent issue, we are asking that you take the time to fill-out the Special Needs form and send it to the Fire Department.

Once we receive this form, there will be a couple of things that happen internally. First and foremost, the Liberty Township Firefighter/ Paramedics that respond to your home will be aware of your "Special Need": the 911 dispatchers have an identifier pop-up on their computer screen informing them to tell the responding personnel that the address has a special needs patient. Secondly, the internal training program can schedule experts to discuss the special issues that your family has. This will include assessment and care techniques. Our medical director will be personally involved in this program as well. He will participate in the training and, if needed, he will contact your doctors to discuss the situation and communicate the pertinent information to the EMS personnel.

So if your family has a special medical need, we highly recommend that you fill out the Special Needs Form and send it to:
