FIRE PREVENTION NOTICE: Recall of Lifetone Bedside Fire Alarm/Clock
The State Fire Marshal’s office has recently been made aware of a defect found in a home safety device that may impact members of your respective communities.
Lifetone Technology has
issued a recall notice for roughly 10,000 HLAC151 bedside fire alarm and
clock units due to a defect that can cause the device to malfunction and fail
to fully alert consumers to a fire. This recall affects models with serial
numbers ranging from AC160600001-AC160604102 and AC170100001-AC170106030.
The bedside alarm and clock is designed to alert individuals
with hearing loss to a fire in their homes. The alarm detects the T3
emergency signal given by existing smoke alarms and then sends its own signal
at a lower frequency, as well as a spoken signal in both English and Spanish.
In defective units, the display screen will go blank and the
optional, user-attached bed shaker accessory will fail to function.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled product if the
digital display is not working and contact Lifetone Technology at
800-648-7923 to receive a prepaid label for the return of the defective alarm
and instructions on receiving a free replacement.
